Oklahoma Forestry Services is providing grant funding is to help governments and groups across Oklahoma implement urban forestry projects that will provide lasting environmental, economic and social benefits for all Oklahomans.
The City of Prague seeks to address immediate public safety and urban forest health needs by removing hazardous trees along approximately 8,412 linear feet of mapped corridors in multiple neighborhoods.
The project supports the organization’s mission of providing safe, well-maintained public infrastructure and aligns with federal and state U&CF objectives to improve storm readiness through proper tree care.
Prague is a small rural community (approx. 2,350–2,400 residents) with limited municipal resources for proactive tree management. Many of the targeted trees along streets, rights-of-way, and common areas in the mapped additions are dead, dying, leaning, or otherwise hazardous. Removal reduces risks of falling limbs or trees during storms, improves sightlines and pedestrian/vehicle safety, and prepares the corridors for future weather related emergencies.
Residents in the affected neighborhoods will benefit from safer streets and reduced storm risk.
Completion of hazardous tree removal along approximately 8,412 linear feet of mapped public corridors.
