Town of Depew - TSET Built Environment Planning Grant

Congratulations - Depew - Submitted

Depew Splash & Play Planning Project

The Depew Splash & Play Planning Project will assess the feasibility, infrastructure needs, and construction costs for developing a community splash pad on four recently donated lots on Main Street. This project envisions a vibrant recreational space featuring a splash pad, pavilion, public restrooms, and a playground, providing a safe and engaging environment for families while enhancing Depew’s downtown revitalization efforts.

Thank you to the following community leaders who are serving on the Depew TSET Healthy Incentive Committee:

Leslie Wilbourn, Depew Grant Administrator

Dionna Market, Depew Mayor

Brandy Hunt-Wallace, Depew Clerk/Treasurer

Ashley Siddiki, Depew Fire Chief

Proposed Project

The primary goal of this project is to determine the infrastructure requirements, feasibility, and construction needs for a SplashPad, Pavilion, Playground, and Public Bathrooms. This study will help ensure that the project is viable and aligns with the town’s efforts to improve public health, increase accessibility, and support economic revitalization. By promoting active lifestyles, the project aims to address the lack of public recreational spaces while creating a family-friendly environment. The feasibility study will also serve as a foundation for securing additional funding sources to bring the project to completion.

Proposed Project

Through the Healthy Incentives Program, the Depew TSET Committee identified the need for an indoor recreation facility that encourages physical activity and wellness. The Hornet Hive will serve as a safe, engaging environment that promotes movement, health, and community connection.

The project addresses several critical community concerns. Depew currently lacks an indoor recreational facility, limiting access to physical activity, especially during Oklahoma’s extreme weather conditions.

Tobacco Stops With Me

Kids Are Vaping. One Talk Can Change That.

As cigarette use declines worldwide, Big Tobacco has expanded its offerings to include new products. Vapor products are one of the most alarming and threatening products from this generational shift. These products, often referred to as e-cigarettes, vapes, or by brand names such as Elf Bar, are using false marketing claims, trendy designs and nuanced issues to push addiction and mask the dangers of vaping on millions of young and unsuspecting customers.

Vapes are battery-powered devices that heat liquid for vapor inhalation. A product initially pitched as a cessation tool quickly evolved into a new harmful industry.
